Summer Reading Titles Available Online

Nottingham summer reading lists may be available in eBook format for free from the library.

Students can download the books and read them on their eBook readers (Kindles, Nooks, iPads, other tablets) or even iPhones or Android phones, or on their computers.  Some titles may be available now, and some may be showing up later in the summer, if and when they become available digitally.  Not ALL titles are or will be in eBook format, but Freakonomics, the required reading for SUPA English, is in the library’s digital catalog.

What do you need to access eBooks?  An Onondaga County Public Library card, and a PIN number.  You can get a library card at your local library (you need ID with a photo and your current address – print your report card!).  If you have a card but don’t have a PIN, visit your library, and the staff will be happy to assist you.

Here is a link with more info about the digital catalog and eBooks: http://www.onlib.org/web/catalog/index.htm

Keep in mind that eBooks are like regular books in that an eBook can only be checked out to one person at a time.  However, you can place a hold on an eBook.  And remember, print books work too!  If we don’t have a book in e-format, ask if we have it in print.  Save some money this summer – visit the library!

If anyone has questions or needs an assist with eBooks, they can call the Central Library at 435-1900 or email reference [at] onlib [dot] org.

Petit Library Has Summer Reading Titles

Annette Waterman, librarian at Petit Branch Library, reports that Petit has most of the titles on the AP English 11 and several copies of Frankenstein from the AP English 12 list for sale from its book sale donations–just 50 cents a piece, either hardcover or paperback.

Ask at the front desk and the librarians will let students and/or parents browse the titles. Petit is at 105 Victoria Place, off of Westcott Street.

Important Info for 2013 Grads

Class of 2013,

Your blue cap and gown are yours to keep.  You do not need to return them to school.   (Faculty, you DO need to return yours.)

Watch for an email announcement next week about when official diplomas will be available.  You will have to stop at the main office to pick up the diploma to fit into the diploma cover you got at graduation last night.

You can purchase a DVD of the graduation ceremony for just $15.  It makes a good keepsake of the event and a nice gift for family members who couldn’t attend.  An order form is attached below.  Orders are due by June 29; DVDs will be delivered or mailed to you by the end of July.  Questions?  Contact Molly Voorheis at mcvoorhe [at] syr [dot] edu or 428-1129.

Senior Prom Pics

The Class of 2013 had a wonderful evening at the Senior Prom and After-Prom Party Friday night/Saturday morning, and we send a very sincere thank you to the Nottingham administrators and the many teachers and parents who made the evening so successful.  Nottingham was bumping until 3 am, and seniors went home with TV’s, printers, dorm refrigerators, gift cards, and tons of other items for college or apartment living.

The Post-Standard took some pictures at Drumlins Friday night and posted them here.  See who you know: http://blog.syracuse.com/cny/2013/06/prom_2013_photos_nottingham_high_school_senior_prom.html#incart_maj-story-1
